- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024Aaron brings his readers in for totally frightening eye witness accounts and lore from the Texas triangle! Anyone who loves true eye witness accounts should read this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2023I read A LOT of books on Cryptids and Fortean phenomenon so of course, I had to get ahold of this one. I was thrilled, maybe even surprised, by how competent Aaron Deese is as an investigator and writer. It is well thought out and well executed. I watched the Small Town Monsters film about this subject and although it was enjoyable, it once again proved to me that books are always better than the movies. One thing I truly appreciated was that Aaron looked at every encounter from all angles, not accepting them as gospel truth.
Of course, we all want to believe these witnesses but you do have to make sure all bases are covered. This is a well researched and thoroughly scrutinized subject by Aaron Deese, a Texas native, and I am grateful to have gleaned from his work. It deserves a place on my book shelf for sure!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2023This is a book focused on Dogman sightings in an area of Texas the author calls the Texas Dogman Triangle. The author provides background and information on the areas where sightings have occurred and interviews with some of the witnesses. Various discussions related to aspects of Dogman are included and a select number of encounters are mentioned as well. The book's focus is more of a scholarly take, while encouraging the reader to decide for themselves. A number of notable researchers are mentioned and where possible interviewed for their opinions. While intetesting, I'm spoiled by the approach Lyle Blackburn (interviewed here) takes in his books. Blackburn's books have more witness encounters. This book mentions several, but takes so much time discussing other things that for me bogged down the flow.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2023As a Texan, I had to read this. It had me googling things like mad. Very entertaining and makes me jumpy just thinking about the subject matter. I did find that the fossil of the bear dog has indeed been found stateside (in Florida). All in all, I could reread this book which is a high compliment from me.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2023This was a most fascinating book. Just reading about the different encounters definitely makes me wonder because living in south Dallas I've always read about strange encounters. In fact there was one that was put on the next door app warning people to stay away from the creek for some bipedal creature they had spotted. Definitely recommend reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2023The author has played an important role is assessing the presence of upright canids in the Lone Star State that is not only important to those studying the phenomenon in Texas, but all over the U.S. The common denominators of such sightings are present all over the United States, not just Texas.
Deere has made an important contribution to the study of cryptic canids and no cryptozoologist worth their salt should pass up an opportunity to have this book in their library.
